THE CHALLENGE

Plate recognition has to be fast and dependable, and the company’s design and approval process meant every change was reviewed before it moved on.

OUR APPROACH

We built it in Rust and Tauri for speed and a small footprint, accepted that learning the language would cost us the second month, and worked through each design round with the client rather than around them.

A licence-plate recognition tool for an exhauster company, shipped as a small native desktop app in Rust and Tauri. It was scoped for about a month and took two: we chose Rust, which we were not yet fluent in five months ago, and spent the extra time getting it right instead of shipping something fragile. Alongside the build there was a steady back-and-forth with the company’s designers and their approval rounds, from first mock-up to sign-off.
