Mobile-First Design: Why Your Website Must Work on Phones

68% of all web traffic comes from mobile. If your site doesn't work on phones, you're ignoring 2 out of 3 potential customers.

68% of global web traffic is mobile. 59% of Google searches happen on mobile. 53% of users leave sites that take 3+ seconds on mobile. Google uses mobile-first indexing — your mobile site IS your website.

Mobile-first means designing for small screens first, then growing. Not just making it fit. Essential: thumb-friendly navigation, readable text without zooming (16px minimum), fast loading, clear CTAs (44x44px buttons), and click-to-call.

The squint test: open your site on your phone, squint. Can you see the main CTA? Read the headline? Find the menu? A Nairobi restaurant we redesigned saw bounce rate drop from 68% to 34% and mobile orders jump from 12% to 47%.
